This week is a great reminder of the incredible role assistance dogs play in supporting people with disabilities, helping them live with greater independence every day.
At the Loo of the Year Awards, we believe accessibility means thinking beyond just the user, it includes their trusted assistance dogs too.
While washrooms focus on accessibility for people, there may be more to consider: how can facilities better accommodate assistance dogs? Simple things like safe spaces for dogs, water bowls, and flooring that is easy on paws could make a big difference.
It is an important area to explore as we continue to raise standards for truly inclusive, welcoming washrooms.
