2012 Loo of the Year Awards - Lepicol 'Home Throne Award'
Background
The main Loo of the Year Awards (LOYA), introduced in 1987, recognises and rewards the very best in 'away from toilets'. LOYA has not previously invited the general public to enter their domestic toilets.
Aim of the new Award
A new category is being introduced for 2012, as part of our celebrations of the 25th Anniversary of LOYA, to enable the general public to nominate their own 'loo' for an award. Sponsored by our Headline Sponsor, Lepicol, our aim is to increase awareness of digestive health issues and the importance of clean toilets- everywhere.
Scope of Award
The Loo of the Year Awards - Lepicol 'Home Throne Award' - covering nominations from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales will be awarded to very best domestic toilet entered, based on the opinion of the LOYA judges.
Nomination Criteria
Any domestic 'Loo' can be nominated. This can be a separate cloakroom or a WC within a bathroom or shower room.

Nominations are invited now and will close 30th September 2012
No Nomination Fee
There is no charge for nomination of a loo
Nomination Process
Nominations are invited by email to information@loo.co.uk with an image of
the loo attached to the email.

Judging criteria and process
The judging criteria will be:
- Décor and maintenance - state of repair and attractiveness of loo
- Fixtures and fittings provision - quality of WC, washbasin, taps, cistern, hand drying etc
- Cleanliness - as possible to determine from the image submitted with the Nomination Form
- Quirkiness - if appropriate.
1 to 5 points will be awarded to criteria a, b and c. A further 1 - 5 points may be awarded to 'quirky' toilets.
Those loos achieving 15 points or above will be shortlisted. The top 20 highest scoring loos will be considered for the award by the LOYA Judges.
Notification of winner
There will be one overall winner decided by the judging panel. Judges decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. Runners up will be featured on facebook and LOYA will ask facebook fans to vote for their favourite.
The winner will be notified before the end of November and details will be shown on the LOYA website www.loo.co.uk from 7th December 2012.
A Loo of the Year Awards - Lepicol 'Home throne Award 2012 certificate will be printed and presented to the winner who will be a guest of LOYA at the prestigious Loo of the Year Awards Presentation Event on 7th December 2012.
The winners name will also be included in the 2012 LOYA Results Brochure.
